Kendwa, Nungwi and Mnemba Atoll

Deep dive into the crystal-clear blue water

DID YOU KNOW THAT…

About Kendwa & Nungwi

Nungwi village is famous for its Dhow, a traditional East African sailboat building. Dhow were originally introduced likely from Yemen hundreds of years ago.

Kendwa Beach is one of the top three most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar and it’s recognized for the amazing sundowners over the Indian Ocean.

Mnemba Atoll is a private island (does the name Bill Gates ring a bell?) which is surrounded by a vast coral reef. Listed as a marine reserve is great for diving and snorkeling, but you are not allowed to go on shore.

GOOD TO KNOW

Tips for you

The Northern beaches like Kendwa and Nungwi see little tide changes throughout the day so both places are the best to enjoy all day swimming.

It takes 2 hours boat trip to get to Mnemba atoll from Kendwa, bring tons of sunscreen.

Be aware of beach boys/maasai selling cruise packages on the beach. They can be cheaper but safety is more important than money!
